Tom Cruise Abseils into Stade de France as Paris Hands Over Olympic Hosting Duties to Los Angeles for 2028
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to a dazzling close with a star-studded ceremony that officially handed over the Olympic torch to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Games. Hollywood’s own Tom Cruise added a touch of cinematic flair to the event by abseiling from the roof of the Stade de France to the iconic “Mission Impossible” theme, embodying the glamour and excitement of the entertainment capital.

Los Angeles showcased its signature Hollywood razzle-dazzle, with performances from native Californian stars Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre, all delivered via video link from Long Beach in LA. Inside the stadium, five-time Grammy-winning artist H.E.R. performed a stirring rendition of the U.S. national anthem.
French swimmer Léon Marchand, who emerged as the most decorated athlete of the Games with four gold medals and one bronze, played a significant role in the ceremony. He carried the Olympic flame from the Tuileries Gardens in Paris to the arena, where it was officially extinguished, marking the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The focus now shifts to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, set to take place from August 28 to September 8, before the Olympic spirit heads to Los Angeles in 2028.
