The investigation into domestic abuse allegations against Manchester United winger Antony has concluded without charges being filed by Brazilian police. Despite this, the case remains open for further review by the prosecutor’s office, meaning it could still be subject to additional scrutiny or independent investigation. Antony, who has denied all allegations, continues to be under investigation by Greater Manchester Police.
The allegations, which were made in September 2023 by three women, include claims of abuse by Antony’s ex-partner Gabriela Cavallin and two others, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, with incidents allegedly occurring in both Brazil and Manchester. Antony has not been arrested or charged in either country and returned to training with Manchester United after being granted leave to address the claims.
While the Brazilian police investigation concluded without indictment, the case’s ongoing nature leaves some uncertainty regarding Antony’s legal situation, which has reportedly affected his form on the pitch. Manchester United, meanwhile, has stated that they take the allegations seriously.
