Lawson’s odyssey into the beauty industry was precipitated by a confluence of childhood memories, personal struggles with acne, and an unwavering ambition. Her mother, a gifted fashion designer, played an instrumental role in instilling the importance of skincare and cosmetic artistry within her. This early exposure, coupled with her experiences in modeling and her triumphant win as Miss Nigeria UK in 2010, served as a catalyst for her passion for beauty and empowerment.
What inspired me to venture into the beauty industry is a story that combines childhood memories, personal struggles and ambition. My name is Dabota Lawson, and from a very young age, I cultivated a profound passion for all things related to beauty. This fascination was largely nurtured by my mother, a talented fashion designer who always emphasized the importance of skincare and cosmetic artistry in expressing one’s individuality. Growing up surrounded by her vibrant array of makeup and fashion, I often found myself spending enthralling hours experimenting with her lipsticks, eyeshadows, and other beauty products.
My journey into the beauty industry truly began when I ventured into modeling at just five years old. This early experience not only immersed me deeper into the world of aesthetics but also opened many doors for me. I was privileged to represent various brands, gaining firsthand insights into the industry and its intricacies. It was mesmerizing to see how beauty could evoke emotions and transform perceptions; each photoshoot was an exploration of creativity and expression.
A pivotal moment in my journey unfolded in 2010 when I won the prestigious title of Miss Nigeria UK. This accolade was not merely a personal triumph; it fueled my ambition to make a more significant, meaningful impact in the beauty realm. With this newfound recognition and a platform to voice my passion, I felt inspired to channel my experiences and insights into something extraordinary for others. I envisioned a brand that would echo my journey, embodying values of authenticity, inclusivity , my person struggle with acne and empowerment.
Few year down the line Dabota Cosmetics was born—a clean and minimalist makeup line meticulously crafted for sensitive and acne-prone skin. I am deeply committed to ensuring that beauty products not only enhance appearance but also care for the skin. Understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals with sensitive skin, I wanted to create a line that minimizes irritation while maximizing beauty. Dabota Cosmetics stands for empowerment, reminding individuals that beauty comes from within, and that the right products can help bring out that inner radiance.
In building Dabota Cosmetics, I focused on selecting high-quality ingredients that are gentle yet effective, prioritizing the importance of skincare in cosmetics. Each product was thoughtfully formulated with the needs of our customers at the forefront. I leveraged my personal experiences with skin sensitivity and the challenges of finding suitable products to develop a line that truly resonates with many. It was crucial for me to create a space where everyone feels welcome, understood, and celebrated—no matter their skin type or beauty preferences.
In addition to developing the product line, I have also dedicated my efforts to educating my audience about the significance of proper skincare and makeup application. I firmly believe in empowering individuals through knowledge, helping them understand their skin needs and how to embrace their unique beauty. Through workshops, social media engagement, and community outreach, I aim to foster conversations around beauty and self-acceptance, encouraging individuals to embrace their true selves without fear of judgment.
My journey, which began as a child playing with my mother’s makeup, has transformed into a fulfilling career dedicated to enhancing beauty and self-esteem in others. I take great pride in every product that bears the Dabota name, as each one is created with love, care, and a commitment to quality. My aspiration is to continue growing this brand, pushing boundaries, and innovating in ways that bring joy and confidence to those who use our products.
